I've had kindle 3 for a while now and I have to say, I'm still in love with it. It's compact and incredibly light weight! But most of all I find it very convenient to have ALL my books in ONE device! No longer do I have to pick and choose which book(s) to take with me (and weigh down my bag) or leave my books behind when relocating. And there are SO many free books at amazon that I NEVER run out of books to read! I have my very own library in the palm of my hand! We can lend books to other kindle users (or kindle app users) for fourteen days and soon, we'll be able to borrow e-books from the library!
Some people go for Nook COLOR but to be honest, since 99.9% of the books I read are novels, I can live without a colored e-book device. I am very happy with my kindle because it suits "my" needs. The only time I'd want my e-book in color is when I'm looking at recipe books (which is .1%).
Now, I was never excited about these devices because I thought it would strain the eyes. I've attempted to read e-books in the past but could not read it for more than thirty minutes. When a good friend of mine received one for Christmas, raved about it, and insisted it will not strain the eyes because it has no backlight, I decided to try one out for myself; and I am very glad that I did. This is a wonderful invention and wished they came out with this years ago!
